Roundball Snowy Tuesday Morning Edition

Today and tomorrow are officially snow days, well according to me anyway. With 30 states about to get dumped on, I know Rochester is going to get hit hard. My only concerns are seeing bands at Dub Land tonight. All four NBA games that will take place tonight will in fact take place, as none of the games should be effected by storm. There was seven games last night.

Indiana held off Toronto to win their first game for Frank Vogel. It was just the Raptors, but hopefully Vogel can get maximum output out of his team for months to come. The Raptors were down big early in this game. Roy Hibbert had his best all around game in two months, all while playing 30 minutes for only the second time this month. Hibbert finished the game with 24 points, 11 boards, and 2 steals and blocks. With a fairly soft February schedule, these Pacers could find themselves right in the middle of the playoff hunt in just a few weeks.

Carmelo Anthony's 37 points weren't nearly enough, as the Nets routed the Nuggets. Brook Lopez had a solid 27 points and the Nets finished the evening with a career high 18 assists from Devin Harris. Given all the drama that has surrounded the Carmelo Anthony saga, you have to think little Avery Johnson hyped the mess out of his players before this game. Wire to wire, this was easily one of their better games of the season. Travis Outlaw and Anthony Morrow torched the Nuggets for a combined 7 three pointers. The Nets leading in bench scoring 50-17 in this game may or may not have had a hand in this victory.

Here is your nightly CAVS SUCK news. They lost by 27 to the Heat last night, scoring an embarassing 33 points in the second half. After Lebron left for South Beach, a lot of people still had hope for the Cavs, NOT ME! Many hoops fans -especially Ohio area fans- are starting to wonder if the Cavs will EVER win again. Like I have been saying, they could possibly beat a D League team or an NCAA team not in the Top 25. Take Antawn Jamison off this team and I think the Rochester Razorsharks could probably beat them. Also, in case you didn't hear, the Cavs are now the first team to 40 losses this season, last year they were the first team to 40 wins. Yes they are first team to accomplish this feat. Dan Gilbert is well on his way to winning some Executive of the Year awards.

The Grizzlies won their third game in a row since OJ Mayo got suspended for drinking an energy drink. They were able to hold off a late charge from the Orlando Magic, defeating them by a final score of 100-97. Mike Conley was big for the Grizzlies in this game, scoring 26 points while dishing out 11 assists. He also came up with a huge strip on a Ryan Anderson rebound with less than a minute left in the game. This led to a Dwight Howard technical which led to an argument between him and Stan Van Gundy. Hopefully there will be some good quotes from Van Gundy today or tomorow.

The Wizards improved to 0-24 on the road last night by losing to the Mavericks. It is going to be impressive if the Wizards and the Cavs can break two NBA records for futility in the same month. On the Wizards behalf, they can only TIE their record this month and one of their road games is against the Cavs. Plus they at least have a good future in John Wall, Nick Young, and Andray Blatche. The Cavs have Alonzo Gee.

The Jazz used double doubles from Al Jefferson, Paul Millsap, and Andrei Kirilenko in an 83-78 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats. Kwame Brown has averaged 9 points and 8 boards in four games since he went off for 13 and 18. This Bobcats team will continue to fall out of playoff contention over the next two months.

The Blake Griffin train kept rolling right along last night. He put up 32, 11, and 6 in a 105-98 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. Brandon Jennings continues to work his way back into playing form, playing 17 minutes off the bench last night. While Blake Griffin has been busy dominating highlight reels all season, Deandre Jordan has also quietly been doing his thing. Low and behold, the Clippers were able to post a winning record in the month of January!
