ROUNDBALL

Let's see how active I can keep this section!

More news on Donald Sterling being a bad, bad man.

Looks like the Kings might be making a couple moves before season's end. They have a bright future if they can Hold onto Demarcus Cousins and Tyreke Evans. For now, Kings fans can expect to endure a couple more losing seasons filled with trade rumors featuring mostly mediocre players.

Carmelo to New Jersey/Brooklyn seems more and more likely by the day. I would still love to see Houston get involved.

There's also a really good basketball doubleheader on ESPN tonight.
I always get excited to see The Rockets play the Magic. Maybe it's because I remember this so well.

It will also be interesting to see Amare's first appearance back in Phoenix. I hope he continues to help my fantasy team as much as he has.

It's been a long time...

It has been several months since an entry was posted on this blog. So much for this being a reliable source for basketball information. I could make all the excuses in the world for not keeping up with this, but at the end of the day it's a blog and I guess I only care so much. Since it has been a few months, I will mainly try to keep these entries current for now. This is going to just be a quick recap of what is going on in the NBA lately.

Blake Griffin is a beast. I have to admit, I was expecting a bit of a Clippers curse there. So far he has been far from a curse. His dunks and constant double doubles have given the Clippers something to look forward to for the next couple years. Don't worry though Clippers fans, he will be a free agent soon enough! Enjoy him while you can!

Lakers fans need to remember that this is in fact an 82 game season. It is still pretty embarrassing to get blown out at home by the Grizzlies. Despite this I remain petty confident that the Lakers will enter their fourth consecutive NBA finals in a few months. There are a couple teams in the West that could potentially stand in their way come Spring.

The Mavericks and Hornets both had pretty quick starts and looked like they might possibly give the Lakers a run for their money in the playoffs. Injuries to Caron Butler (season ending knee surgery) and Dirk Nowitzki (missed six consecutive games with a sprained knee) have all but crippled those chances for now. The Hornets have just come down to earth, quickly. I doubt very many people ever took either of those two teams seriously anyway.

One Western Conference team that remains a threat to unseat the Lakers in the west is the Spurs. Most seasons they have been the team that quietly cruises into the playoffs. Even with two consecutive losses, their 29-6 record still puts them two games ahead of the Celtics and Heat for best record in the NBA. I still think the Lakers will be back in the finals, but The Spurs will make things interesting, sort of.

The big story line going into the season was obviously the Miami Heat. In the first month or so of the season, a lot of their critics aka haters were having a field day on this team. Most wise fans of the game knew that this team was going to take at least a few games to gel. Since Thanksgiving, the aforementioned haters have had little to complain about. Since that time, the Heat have won 20 of 22 games, losing to the Dallas Mavericks twice by single digits. I said going into the season that I thought there would be two east teams that could give the Heat trouble in the playoffs. I can now add the Chicago Bulls to this list. While I have never been a fan of this team or Jordan, I can not deny what a good team they have assembled. When Noah comes back and if Boozer can play on both ends of the floor, this team could be a force.

The Celtics have one good run left in them and seeing them against the Lakers in the finals never gets old. Of course, health is always a question with a team like this. They could give Dwight Howard or Chris Bosh some serious problems if Shaq, Perk, and Jermaine O'Neal are healthy come playoff time.

This looks like another off year for my Houston Rockets. They might acquire Carmelo Anthony in the next month, but I kind of doubt it. It would be nice to see them dump Yao's contract too but I don't see that happening. What a mess that has turned into. It doesn't seem like too long ago where I was faithful that Yao and TMAC could make the Rockets a very competitive team. Now that they are moving forward without (hopefully) both players I am very excited again. Almost like a Bills fan in late August...

Here is a gif of Matt Harpring and a shake weight. The second one is a little funnier. The fact that he is wearing a headband in both is pretty priceless.

Unrelated to basketball...

Here is some Dodgers news.

My friend Chris Pogue is always busting his ass in bands in the Rochester area. The last couple I really dug and his new band These Eyes is no different. Check out their new demo here. As always, the emotion pours out of your speakers on this one.

I went to Buffalo to see Skarhead a couple weeks back. Well the real reason I went was to see Naysayer and a bunch of old friends that stole my area code back in the day. I caught the end of my friend Mike's new band The March. Mike has been playing drums for Buffalo hardcore bands for over fifteen years. This is no small feat. Unfortunately, I only caught their last couple songs. Hopefully we'll hook up something in Rochester in the near future. Next up was some Malibu's Most Wanted of hardcore type band. They had me wishing I had left sooner. Luckily, overpriced PBR was made available that evening for purchase at the bar. Next up was Naysayer. I had been listening to their Reaper Records' debut for sometime now so I was stoked to see this band live. They were great. Their singer's voice is a breath of fresh air in this current stagnant scene. He has a real gruff punk rock tone to his voice, not unlike Dave from Striking Distance. Up next was Wisdom in Chains. It's funny how few hardcore shows I have been to in the last five years and that it feels like Wisdom in Chains has been on all of them. In fact, they have been on three of the six out of town shows I have travelled to in the last five years. No Madball cover. Skarhead headlined and played about how i thought they would, mostly stuff off of Kings at Crime. Shows like this kind of get me excited to get involved in the hardcore scene again. They also bum me out when I realize how far I have fallen in such a short time. I think next up will be Naysayer on Feb 1 unless something out of town comes up again.

I took some time off from work to chill. Instead of getting productive stuff done, I've spent a few hours watching videos on hate5six.com It is inspiring to see a lot of my former peers still carrying the torch for the hardcore scene. I wonder if over a million people have sung along to Can We Start Again yet?

I might do a show for my 30th birthday on March 18th. I really don't want my 20s to end.

The NFL playoffs start this weekend. I don't really care, but I expect the Eagles and Patriots to meet up in the Superbowl. Only in America...

That's all I feel like saying for now. I got a twitter now, too. Follow me @94FTG
