ROUNDBALL

There was ten games on the NBA's schedule last night, most of them wire to wire match ups. As viewed here, three of them featured game winning shots in the final seconds. I prefer David Wests shot, although Rudy Gay's was pretty nice too. There's a funnier video of that below. Enjoy it while it lasts, everybody.

Brook Lopez and the referees helped hand the Cavaliers their 17th consecutive loss last night. With only two more games like this one before the all star break, Cleveland could find themselves at the all star break in the midst of a TWO MONTH LOSING STREAK! The Cavaliers looked to be in control of this headed into the fourth quarter, but they weren't able to close it out against Brook Lopez, Devin Harris, and company. Ryan Hollins did his best to get a foul on Brook Lopez. Apparently, the officials weren't feeling it.

Not only did the Raptors lose their eighth in a row to the Grizzlies, but they ended their NBA record at 986 consecutive games with a three pointer made. Demarr Derozan and Andrea Bargani paced the Raptors with 25 and 29 points each respectively. Derozan is really starting to come into his own in only his second season. At least the Raptors have something look to forward to. Rudy Gay ended with 21 points after hitting that game winning fade away shot. Zach Randolph finished with 17 points and 12 boards, good for his eleventh consecutive double double. He did it on 8 of 24 shooting though. Him or Gay have a shot at representing the Grizzlies at the all star game this season.

Kevin Durant was pretty cold from the floor last night. Chris Paul, David West and the Hornets took advantage, eventually closing the game out on West's jumper. Russell Westbrook continues to lead my fantasy basketball team at the point guard position.

This is a great year for futility. The Cavs and Timberwolves are both terrible. You also have the Washington Wizards who have still yet to win a game on the road. Last night they upped their road losing streak to 21 against the New York Knicks. Just like the Cavs against the Nets, the Wizards were close going into the fourth quarter. Raymond Felton, Amar'e Stoudemire, and Wilson Chandler proved to be too much down the stretch, as the Knicks were able to win this game 115-106. The Wiazards are now in the second half of a potential winless road season, a feat which has never been accomplished in the NBA.

Detroit went into Orlando and surprised the Magic last night and The King went into Portland and did the same to the Blazers. The big storyline here is the Lamarcus Aldridge injury. Since this was a west coast game, it is unkown how severe it is, but Aldridge needs X Rays on his sore right hip. You have to hope for the best for this injury riddled franchise. Tyreke Evans led the Kings with 26 points, 6 boards, and 6 assists. Tracy McGrady went back to Orlando and had one of his better games of the season, finishing with 20 points, 7 boards, and 5 assists. Rip Hamilton sat for his seventh consecutive game. This is starting to remind me of Stephon Marbury's final days in New York.

Philadelphia beat Phoenix 105-95 last night. Thaddeus Young and Elton Brand led the 76ers in the victory. Jared Dudley had his highest scoring output in a month. Makes me wonder if he got the Philly steak feast he was looking for!

The Bulls beat the Bucks 92-83 on VINTAGE KURT THOMAS night.

The Spurs got a brief scare last night, as Tim Duncan went down with an apparent knee injury in the first half of a victory to the Warriors. He was back for the second half as the city of San Antonio all sighed themselves to sleep. Like I have been saying, any potential playoff or Finals run will depend on the play of Tim Duncan. David Lee had his highest scoring output of the season in the loss. He finished with 32 points. Monta Ellis continues to play at an all star caliber level.

Despite a spirited fourth quarter run from the Timberwolves, the Rockets were able to hold on for a 129-125 win last night. Kevin Martin had 34 points and Luis Scola had 20 points and 12 boards for the Rockets. Kevin Love finished the night with 24 points and 17 boards. I want to build a video game franchise around him, Derrick Rose, and Blake Griffin.
