ROUNDBALL- Trade Deadline Thunder and Rockets make a few moves...

A lot more last minute trading went down than I had expected. Baron Davis and Deron Williams went east in the final hours, Kirk Hinrich went to the Hawks, and a few last minute trades have come in today.

The Houston Rockets did in fact end up making a few last minute moves, for better or worse. They traded Shane Battier back to the Grizzlies for Hasheem Thabeet and first round draft choice. This reduces 2.5 Mil off the salary cap and it gives the Rockets yet another project big man, potentially to take the place of Yao Ming after this season. This move had been talked about for a few days, so it doesn't come as much of a surprise. The Rockets also traded Aaron Brooks to the Suns for Goran Dragic and a first round choice. At least the Rockets are getting some draft picks with these players. Both players are still very young and could work out in the future with the Rockets. They weren't keeping Battier or Brooks beyond this season so I can't really complain about these trades.

Gerald Wallace did get traded to the Portland Trail Blazers. They sent Joel Pryzbilla and two first round picks. The Blazers will now have more of a chance at making it to the playoffs this season, with a set of legs on the wing in Wallace. The Bobcats also dumped some more salary, sending Nazr Mohammed to the Thunder in exchange for D.J. White and Morris Peterson. Overall, the Bobcats saved 8.6 mil on next season and acquired some draft picks. They do have Michael Jordan drafting after all though.

The Thunder also made the steal of the day. In addition to acquiring Mohammed from the Bobcats, The Thunder also traded Jeff Green and Nenad Krstic to the Boston Celtics for Kendrick Perkins and Nate Robinson. The Thunder are now primed for a playoff run with the likes of the Spurs and the Lakers. The big question surrounding this trade is why Boston would make a trade like this. They were looking for a little depth after Marquis Daniels went down and I guess they saw something in Jeff Green. Time will tell how this will pay off for both teams I guess. The Celtics also sent Luke Harangody and Semih Erden to the Cavs for a secound round pick. The Cavs are all set now!
