The Portland Trail Blazers are (potentially) about to re-write NBA history.

I think the Cavaliers picked a really terrible time to run into the Portland Trail Blazers. Desperate to avoid NBA history for futility with their 24th consecutive loss, they face a Blazers team that will be upset tonight. Rightly so, as Lamarcus Aldridge was clearly robbed of an all star spot. Kevin Love is having an amazing season and Tim Duncan gets a lifetime achievement award, meanwhile Lamarcus Aldridge has been leading a Blazers team that has been ravaged by injuries all season long. The Blazers currently only sit a half game out of the 8th and final western conference playoff spot. The Timberwolves have the second worst record in the NBA (thanks to the Cavs). Now I am not trying to discount anything that Kevin Love has done this season. He's having a great season and deserves to be here as well as Aldridge, but I think in this situation stats were put into play a little bit too much. The easiest solution to this problem would be to add another roster spot or two, but then I am sure people would be complaining that it's too many players. The Eastern Conference didn't run into this problem.

Anyway, I don't really think this game will be all that close. Not only that, I don't see the Cavs pulling out of this rut at all in the next few seasons. The upcoming NBA Draft crop doesn't appear to be all that strong and there really aren't many marquee free agents available this upcoming offseason. Plus, Antawn Jamison has been talking about retirement. If Jamison retires, take a look at the potential roster the Cavs would have. They would of course have enough money to sign two top free agents. Not that they would have an interest in playing in Cleveland at this point anyway. I am sure Dan Gilbert will continue to try and sell false hope to people in Cleveland. Who knows how long they will buy into for it, though.
