ROUNDBALL

There was only one NBA game played yesterday. Something about some teams trying to get to the Superbowl or something, I don't know.

Carmelo Anthony continues to lead the Nuggets in the midst of all the trade saga. I still don't understand why he doesn't just stay in Denver. Anthony led all scorers with 36 last night (including six threes in the third quarter!) as the Nuggets handed the Pacers a 121-107 loss. Tyler Hansborough had his second 20-10 game of the month (and career) in the losing effort.

In a related story, I have been seeing rumors the last couple days about Nene requesting a trade out of Denver. Apparently, all of the players want to play elsewhere now. If Nene goes to Miami, that would be unfair. That team would then matchup better in the playoffs with Orlando, Boston, and pretty much every other team. Granted, they could still have depth issues. Maybe they will just send four players out. I hope the Miami thing doesn't happen and the Rockets end up pulling off a mega-trade for Carmelo Anthony and Nene. It doesn't hurt to dream a little every now and then.

Peja Stojakovic should be a Maverick today.

Like I said, it was a slow day yesterday for NBA action. Here is a great piece on Early Boykins that was written for the Cleveland Plains- Dealer over the weekend. Clearly an inspirational story for all athletes.
