East Coast Tsunami 2011

After a couple weeks of teasing us with a few band announcements here and there, East Coast Tsuanmi 2011 has finally been announced. The lineup in my opinion is pretty hit and miss, but I guess that's the breaks of putting a festival together. If I can find a way down there, I would more than likely just go down for Saturday and Sunday. Unless of course, Such Gold plays on the first day! Good to see Rochester being represented on this festival. Below is the lineup.

ROCK SHOW AT DUB LAND UNDERGROUND THIS SATURDAY!

Anyone that has followed Enterprise Hardcore throughout the years knows that we like to bring many different kinds of shows to the kids. The term Hardcore is mainly in there so that you know that we will never forget our roots. This Saturday, we will be bringing you a great rock show! My Island is a newer band from New Jersey, featuring Vincent from Roses are Red on vocals. Roses are Red was a staple in the Rochester emo-rock scene from 2003-2007 and we are excited to have My Island in Rochester for the first time. Banquets are coming up with My Island from New Jersey as well. Locals Anyn and Scholar are bringing the rock to this show as well. We're keeping it true Enterprise Hardcore style and doing this as a matinee. Doors are at 4pm and the rock will start around 4:45.

I knew I got back into card collecting at the right time!

Over the last seven months, I have put my girlfriend through a lot of boring hours, just so I can chase a few random pieces of cardboard around town. We have spent hours at many different Targets, Wal Marts, and various other stores that might have some random basketball cards from the last few years. As I have gotten back into this extremely nerdy hobby, I have noticed that Panini has cornered the market on basketball cards. This season, just as 2010 had come to a close, I had already completed base sets of Prestige, Rookies and Stars, and Threads. I then went on and bought a few boxes of Donruss and it was then that I realized that Panini was seeing a lot of my money. That trend is only going to continue with the announcement that Panini CEO Mark Warsop made yesterday. Warsop unveiled Panini HD, which will be the card industry's first video card. I am glad that it took this long to produce and I have the utmost faith in Panini coming out with a great product yet again. The video cards are expected to be dropped into several of Panini's products later this year. They are also announcing another Panini-Exclusive athlete in the next couple weeks. This player will join Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant, and John Wall. If I had to guess, I would say it will be either Derrick Rose, Blake Griffin, or Brian Scalabrine. While the card industry isn't nearly as strong as it was twenty years ago, it is still great to know that Panini will continue to release great basketball cards for many years to come.

I would like to at least see Scalabrine involved with basketball after he "retires" just for the sake of seeing him around some more. Scal will no doubt be a major influence in the writing process for Foul Trouble.

RIP Nate Dogg

I heard this on the radio this morning and had to stop what I was doing for a minute. I had heard about Nate Dogg's health problems a couple years back so this wasn't a total shock to me, but it is still sad and a big loss to hip-hop. I spent most of sixth and seventh grade listening to something with Nate Dogg's soulful voice behind it. First on The Chronic, then on the classic Warren G joint "Regulate." From then on, Nate Dogg became the voice of hip-hop and found himself featured on nearly every noteworthy rapper's record for the next decade. I was lucky enough to see Nate Dogg as a part of the Up in Smoke Tour in Rochester in July of 2000. Luckily a ton of hits were produced and will keep Nate Dogg's legacy a live for years to come.
